LOVEly

It's hard to believe that it's already 2016!
hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year with your friends and family!!! It seems like this holiday season has flown by (especially with this crazy weather). Before we know it will be Valentines Day, so we best get a head start! Here are a few decorating ideas to show your home some love!

I love how this frame turned out. I found it at the Salvation Army for like $1.00. The quote in the middle came from an old book and says

"Ye who have no home;
Ye who have no love;
Ye who have naught;
Unto this house come
And ye shall have."

So fitting for this time of year!

In this area, I wanted to use neutral colors and décor that would last through spring. I LOVE my new topiaries! They're the bomb.com!
And that sign came from Michaels and is in stores now! I got mine for only $9.00! It was in the damaged clearance section, but I've yet to figure out what's wrong with it! Instead of hanging it with the hooks on the back of it, I attached a piece of twine to hang it by.

This banner was made from old book pages! ❤️

I LOVE this tassel banner. I made it with extra yarn I had and some jute string.
Super Simple!

I replaced my Christmas branches with some faux ferns, and I love how they soften the space!

More Heart Banners!

I'm still loving my ottoman (I've had it for months!) It came from Bargain Hunt and was a steal!!!

"It's Good to Smile"
A quote to live by year-round, but I made this sign as a reminder to focus on the good this year instead of wasting time on the bad.

Ecclesiastes 3:12 NIV
"I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live."

I hope you got a few ideas from this post!
Happy Decorating!!!!

2016 and a Home That's Neat & Clean

Happy New Year!!! What's your resolution? One of mine is to keep the house neat and tidy! After all, "cleanliness is next to godliness". Here's a few tips of mine on keeping your spaces neat and organized in the coming year!

Creative Storage:

Keeping things neat and tidy is always a good thing, but why not do it in a decorative way? Finding and creating multi-functional furniture is a great way to accomplish just that! I LOVE old trunks and they are a perfect example of multi-functional "furniture".

I stack mine up and store movies, CD's (yes I still listen to CD's), and craft supplies in them. The bottom one we found at a thrift store, the middle came from an auction, and the top from, guess where, Michael's! They add character and interest while giving me the much needed storage.

Another idea is using decorative baskets to store and display some of your items like books, blankets, pillows. Whether having large ones in the floor or smaller ones on shelves, they're a great storage solution.

Also, consider functional furniture pieces. This piece is a large decorative wood box that I use for storing my wrapping paper, gift bags, ribbon, etc., but it could easily be turned in to a side table or even extra seating by closing the lid.

These simple solutions can help any cluttered area become a clean, beautified space.
Here's to 2016 and a home that's clean!

Peace on Earth

Peace... A word I've recently been thinking about. At this time of year, it seems like Peace is the last thing on our minds, what with the craziness at every store, the running to party after party, the seemingly endless "to-do" list. This time of year seems like the most hectic rather than the most peaceful...

The sign pictured above makes such a statement (both literally and figuratively)! I bought it a few weeks ago to use for Christmas, not really focusing on its simple message: Peace.

I love that this sign lights up as well, sending the message that where there is peace, there is light. So fitting for this time of year as we honor the prince of peace and light of the world.

It's funny to think that a simple ordinary item can take on so much meaning if you really think about it.

With Christmas being only a few days away, let's take time to find peace, peace with our family, peace with ourselves.

Merry Christmas!!!

Simple Christmas

With the holidays just around the corner, most of you have probably already decked your halls, but if not, here are a few simple decor ideas that may help your Christmas be merry and bright!

Empty frames like these are so versatile and can do wonders for any space by adding character and charm. I found these to at a local thrift store. I hung a candle ring from Michaels Craft Store in the first and some glittered snowflake ornaments in the second. So simple, and so charming!

I absolutely love this advent calendar. It was also found at Michaels Craft store, and all I did was add a bit of greenery from an evergreen in the back yard and picked a small twig from our berry bush to use as the day marker on the calendar. I chose to put mine on an easel, but it would also look great hanging on any wall!

This idea came from my favorite blog, Vintage Whites, and I think it's a perfect touch for any stairway! It's as simple as it looks: branches tied with ribbon, but it has a major impact!

And finally, these beauties! I absolutely love the way they look! I've had these metal plant holders for a while, but wasn't exactly sure how or where to use them. Then, I found the perfect spot between two doors. I lined them up and added these Christmas branches that I had, and Joy To The World! It looks great

I hope this gives you a little inspiration for this Holiday Season! Keep it Simple, and have a Merry Christmas!!!
